I have a split receptacle and I need to run power from there to 4 new recessed lights that I want to control by a single pole dimmer switch. Can you tell me the correct way to wire this?

It may be a doable or not depending on the conductor at the switch box location if you only see two wires there it may not able be festible but keep in your mind there is few ways it can be done

Do you want to keep the spilt recpectle circuit or not ?

If not it may be a easy conversion.

As I mention above check the switch box first to confirm the numbers of conductors there if there is two pairs of conductors then you have good chance to do this correct.

let me know after you decided to keep the split receptale or not.

we will go from there.
