I have a bosch dishwasher. We had a tempered glass lid break inside and a million little glass pieces went everywhere, including down the pump hole. This was a few months ago.
No noticeable problems after it happened.
When it happened... I cleaned it out as best I could, not knowing at the time that glass had gone out of sight. Over time, it has lost its ability to clean properly.
I opened the door a few times and couldn't see the arms spinning, so I positioned then straight front to back. Opened the door several more times, they never moved, but if I opened the door fast enough, I could see water spraying out of the little holes along the arms, pretty high, I thought.
I then tricked the door into thinking it was closed and ran it with the door open, the arms do not move, not together, not one at a time.
I figured it was the impeller, I thought it was all broken up from some glass that I must not have gotten out.
Last night I un-installed the washer, took it into the garage and disassembled it completely. A frightening task, that wasn't really that bad once I figured it out.
I got all the way to the impeller. Yep, 50% blocked by little glass bits (from the tempered glass) and little piece of plastic. I cleaned it out and put it all back together.
No change. Still no spin.
Water level is correct. No noticable loose debris in any of the water lines, I did not look specifically for this, but as I removed and fondled and reinstalled the lines, I think I would have felt/heard it.
I blew through the water lines while I had it apart, I was able to blow without any restriction.
Where do I go from here?
Jason

Evening Jason,
Don't know if you've figured your problem out yet, or if this will even help. But in a previous dishwasher we owned, we had dropped a pyrex lid on another glass dish which exploded into a lot of very little pieces. I went through a similar troubleshooting procedure. what I ended up finding was that while the glass was jammed in the pump, it had chewed away a considerable portion of the impeller fins. It would still pump water, but not with velocity enough to make the arms spin. I tried initially to find parts then gave up and bought a new dishwasher. (My wife said she was due an upgrade anyway:) )
