I put in a heavy load of blankets. The machine stopped at the rinse cycle. I pulled out 1 of the 2 blankets thinking it was too heavily filled. Now it will not turn back on. The basket is filled with water. When i try to restart with nothing in the basket other than the water, I get a low buzzing noise. It is a Heavy Duty, Super Capacity 8 cycle, 1/2 hp Estate by Whirlpool. There is a number on the lid of SM 8280867. Thanks for the advice in advance

Look on the same label there is a model# above the number you gave us, The number you gave is serial # and that doesn't help. Put timer in the spin cycle and close lid and see if the water goes out of machine, Don't worry about buzzing noise as it's the broken drive coupler. here is a link to repair if you have the machine I think you have. The black stuff they are talking about probably will not be there as the newer ones crack instead of wearing out.
