I'm doing a heat-loss calculation using the Slant/Fin program. I'm using 70 deg for the indoor temp and -10 deg for the outdoor design temp.

We live in northern Illinois. The extreme min temp is around -20, but in any given year, there will only be a few times that it gets as low as -15.

So, does -10 seem reasonable for the outdoor design temp?
