I went to change a light bulb on the ceiling fan/light fixture. The appliance was turned on. The bulb was just a 40 Watt bulb but the stem was narrow and the fixture called for a wider stem light. The light bulb popped and now the fixture will not work.Did I permanently damage the fixture? Is there a short somewhere?I checked all circuit breakers and all are on and everything else seems fine.

Is there a dimmer anywhere controlling this light? Maybe a wall dimmer? Maybe a remote control that has a dimming function?

Do you own any electrical test equipment?
