Lighting, Light Fixtures, Ceiling and Exhaust Fans - Stair Lighting Fixture Question

I have a stair lighting fixture that is rectangular in shape and has louvers that point down onto the steps. I have a burned out light in it, but just found out that when I went to change it, there are no screws on the faceplate. When I look up into the fixture thru the louvers, I see wires that seem to hold the face plate onto the fixture. It looks like the cover plate (face plate) is attached to the wire via a clamp, and the wires are spring loaded by tension into slots on the fixture itself. I'm not sure how to remove the cover to change out the bulb and don't want to ruin it. Can anyone help? thanks.

Many fixture covers are held in place by spring wire, as you describe. Pull the cover toward you, from both sides, if possible, and the cover should come partially out, while still attached to the spring wires. You can then squeeze the spring wires together to detach them from the housing and gain access to the bulb.
