...in the wall. My heat pump is located just outside my bedroom window. I know, its a terrible location but I didn't build the house. When it kicks on and begins heating the house I hear a series of loud popping noises in the wall/ceiling of the bedroom. This usually last for around 3-5 minutes before subsiding. Some of the pops are quite loud and can be heard throughout the house.

Now, I assume this comes from some kind of thermal expansion. Any ideas on how I might be able to fix it?

I should also note that the wall or ceiling that the popping is coming from are external facing so I don't have the advantage of an attic to work in.
