Hello and thanks for reading,
I'm looking to add a siren in my unfinished basement. I can wire it to my lynx-R panel. Which one do you think would work best?
Ademco Self-contained Indoor Siren - 747
Dual-Tone Siren Ademco Wave2 Dual-Tone Siren - Wave2
Ademco Piezo Dynamic Siren - WAVE2PD
Ademco Piezo Dynamic Siren - 747PD
I'm also in the process of adding some door sensors, glass breaks and a couple of motion detectors. I'm using the Lynxn-r ademco main unit and was wondering what benefits I would gain by upgrading to a VistaP20 or equivalent?

I would use the wave 2.
If you upgrade to the 20P you can expect the following:
Pros:
8 hardwired zones
can add multiple keypads
more secure, dialer, kp and siren are all seperate
Cons:
you will lose phone access
no voice chime unless you purchase a voice keypad
keypad cannot be used as a speaker phone
2 way voice requires a module.
In essense, the 20p is a better system, but it is modular--you must add many componets to get what you want.

Thanks for responding. Your comments are very helpful. One of my big concerns with the lynx system is it central location and by ripping it off the wall the whole thing is dead. Maybe I could remount it to a more secluded place. I was hoping to add a keypad in the master bedroom to control it (Ademco 5827) or I may just add an extra keyfob arm and disarm.
About the only difference I could find between the
Dual-Tone Siren Ademco Wave2 Dual-Tone Siren - Wave2
and the
Ademco Piezo Dynamic Siren - WAVE2PD
was something about lower current draw with the Piezo. Can you explain what Piezo really means in this case?
Thanks.

I am sorry, but after rethinking things I would recommend the WAVE2EX connect to terminals 11 and 12.
To make your system more secure, you can mount the panel out of site and disable the onboard siren by cutting the jumper on the back.

Would I be able to add to of the WAVE2EX sirens. I found out that I can't add the WAVE2 to the Lynx panel. Thanks for the input thus far.

No, it would draw to much power.

You could use a slave relay to drive extra audibles. Just make sure you use the correct resistance in series to keep current to a minimum. They're pretty cheap, and why risk burning up contacts on an expensive circuit board.
I'm not using output on the Vista20P, but dry contacts on the aux relay boards, in turn driving slaves to higher DB sirens.
For slave relays, I'm using Elk relay 912 and Elk relay 924. Might try an Elk relay 960 if I can figure out something I want a timer on. Available through www.internet-security-inc.com
I've also used the Altronix RB5 12V Relay Module, which is a small, simple unit with dual input/outputs. Got them at www.safemart.com
What's cool as these relays use 12/24V input, and can be arranged to handle higher DC and AC loads than the aux relays in the Vista20P or other Ademco boards. Have fun!
