hello, i'm about to install a split unit in my house. I would like to install the interior unit above the patio door. The clearance recommended is 7.5" from the top of the unit to the ceiling. I just have 1.5" . I know this isn't ideal but will it work(efficiently)?

The make is LG artcool 18000btu. I know that the mitsubishi Mr Slim series can be mounted right against the ceiling.

I haven't installed one of these yet (close but a couple of sales fell through) but if they say 7.5" there is a reason and it probably has something to do with removal of the cover or some other service function.
