A month ago I purchased a leather Palliser loveseat and sofa for $2600. The sales guy gave me a free Excelsior Leather kit, basically a rag and a tin of protector. He said that I should wait at least 3 months after purchasing to do the first protection coat. Does this sound right? He wasn't your typical slime bucket sales men from what I could tell. After one month, you can definitely see wrinkles where we sit more than others. I want this furniture(especially for the price) to last as long as possible.

wrinkling and some stretching in high-traffic areas is typical, especially in the first few months of use.
as far as care, if you could provide a little more information as to what type of leather you purchased (finished, unfinished, protected, unprotected, etc.), it would be helpful in advising you how to care for it. If it isn't in the documentation that came with the furniture, perhaps a call to the salesperson could provide that information.

There are many types of leathers, dyes, and finsihes. It is always best to follow manufacturer's recommendtions for cleaning and maintenaince. Wrinkles in leather tend to be a natural characteristic and not a cleaning issue. For leather upholstery to last as long as you desire, follow manufacturer's instructions for care and maintenance. Wrinkles and wear tend to provide character. If in doubt, confirm with manufacturer.

I will check what kind of leather it is and get back to the thread. I looked at so many sofas I can't remember anymore. :o

Again, please check with the manufactuer. On the Palliser website, it is stated that leather is treated with protective coating and all that is needed is to wipe with damp cloth.
