I'm looking for a quick, inexpensive, easy way to refurbish old kitchen cabinets. Unfortunately they are ugly pressed wood and the counter tops are ugly brown laminate. I have no idea how to begin this kitchen face lift. HELP!!!

A good cleaning to remove built up cooking grease/dirt is a first step. For that tired looking laminate, there is a liguid gold product for that, and again, a good cleaning to start. If that does not make things look any better, consider painting the cabinets, but not the top.

After cleaning, if you decide to paint, let us know [preferably what type of finish/product is on the face] and we can tell you how to get the best paint job
Another option athough more expensive would be to reface the cabinets - new doors and a veneer over the exposed carcase.
There is no good way to change the look of the counter top short of replacement.

if you have around $50 you can get a new counterop at Menards. We replaced our countertop recently. It was like 50 and some change for a 10 ft stone look laminate. It didnt have a sink cutout, but that isnt hard at all.
