Hi. Our system trouble light came on recently and we were advised by our alarm monitoring company to change the main battery, which we did. The trouble light remains on and the LCD Keypad indicates low battery in the wireless motion sensor in the main bedroom. The alarm company has confirmed that the main battery is functioning properly but there is still a low battery indication from one of the remote sensors. We replaced the 3V Lithium battery in the wireless bedroom motion sensor and for good measure replaced the AAA batteries in the two other wireless motion sensors.

The yellow trouble light on the keypad is still lit and *2 still shows that the battery is low in bedroom wireless motion detector.

Any suggestions - is the bedroom motion detector defective or is the main transmitter for these wireless units?

Yes, check your batteries for that motion. DSC wireless devices that use regular AAA batteries are notoriously finiky about the batteries.


Also make sure that the device cover is on and it's on it's base, or the new batteries will not register.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. This problem is really getting frustrating. The doors and 2 motion detectors are hard wired and then we have 3 that are wireless. We have replaced all batteries in the motions (2 take 4 AAAs and one takes a lithium 3V). After putting in the batteries, or just taking the unit off the wall, the red light blinks 15-20 times and then does appear to fuction OK for a few minutes. Then eventually all 3 stop working. The readout on the control panels states that the battery of the motion detector on the unit that takes the 3v battery is low, but it was just replaced.

If you have access to a meter, test the battery. The lithium batteries often don't get rotated often enough on store shelves.

The function indication are correct. When you take them down and put them back they go into walk test mode for a few minutes, then go back into normal mode where there is a 3 minute lockout between trips to prevent running the battery down.

Thanks for your help - the trouble indicator on the keypad is finally out! The battery for some reason had to be removed and replaced a couple more times and this seemed to fix the problem.

After the walk test mode we were assuming that the wireless detectors were not functioning because the red LED did not light upon entering the room. We recently purchased this home and were not aware that the three wireless sensors were high traffic sensors and that the LED only lights up in the test mode.

Good, I think you did my next suggestion by accident. Sometimes you need to clean the accumulated corrosion layer off of the battery contact points (an old school typewriter eraser is the ideal tool for this).

You probably scrubbed it off by moving the battery in and out.
