I was at Sears yesterday and I went into an aisle that has tapping tools. I saw some little disc, which I don't have a picture of. But it has 3 holes in them. What are those discs use for?

Those are dies for cutting threads on round stock.

Exactly!
That site has really good price. Did you pick that one by random or have you bought something from it before?

I've bought a lot of tools from harbor freight over the last 25 ys or so. Some of their tools are of decent quality but some aren't. I have a tap and die set from them and it works great for chasing threads but really isn't stout/sharp enough to cut new threads.

I agree. It's a 50/50 proposition; some of their stuff is pretty good, but some of it is pretty cheaply made. I just looked for a site with a decent picture of the item and it happened to be them.

MarkSR and TowGuy, thank you for your insight on Harbor Freight.
Are there any other sites that you would use to buy hardware accessories?
Thank you for your replies.

Thank you for your replies. northern hydraulics, graingers, are both good for some quality you just have to know what you are buying.

I agree that northern hydraulics can be good place to buy tools - last year I bought 3 oversized wrenches for a little more than 1 of them would have cost at sears - and they seem to be made well!
I'm not sure but I think northern hydraulics has changed their name to northern tool. Never seen a graingers store :(

Correct on Northen Tool, they dropped the "hydraulics" several years ago and they do have pretty good stuff.

Ya, but it's hard to not call them by their original name :p
I still catch myself calling harbor freight, harbor freight and salvage.... and they dropped the salvage part a long time ago. Used to have a tipped over train on their logo.
