Hi, Im trying to figure out how much a gas fireplace will cost.
Please let me know if I have this right.
- the fireplace has a rating of 15,000 BTU
- converted to Therms (divide by 100,000) = .15 therms
- converted to mcf (divide by 1,000,000) = 0.015 mcf
- converted to ccf (divide by 1,031) = 14.59 ccf
So, I think that means that a 15,000 BTU per hour is equivalent to 14.59 ccf per hour?
I found out my gas co displays charges in ccf, so i went with the last number. I added up the 4-5 charges they have on my gas bill which came out to $1.60 per ccf.
So, in the end, I multiple the 14.59 x $1.60 and come out with $23.26. Meaning it will cost $23.26 per hour to use the fireplace?
Let me know if I have that right.
PS -also, someone said that the pilot's usually burn at 600-800 BTUs?
