I have a fully wireless Concord four system and the smoke is on zone 5.
I tried:
8 + CODE + 3 and then hitting the test button on the smoke
That does "register" but then when I exit that mode and get back to the menu the "Press Status" icon comes back up and says "Open Zones 05".
It was beeping every few minutes last night so I bought new batteries for the smoke and did the above. It hasn't beeped since I did the above (30 minutes ago, and I've spent that time scouring the web) but the stupid status message wont go away.
The red led on the smoke is flashing every 9 seconds.
I don't have installer codes and I really don't like the company that put this thing in. I let the service elapse about a month ago after several bad customer service experiences and would rather not call them.
Question: Can I clear the open smoke message?
Bonus question(s): Can you suggest a low cost monitoring solution for this system? Will I need a installer code for that?

To clear the message, press the * button twice. If it still does not clear enter 1+code, 1+code.
To change monitoring companies, first make sure you are not under contract. You will infact, need an installer code, default is 4321. You can try 4321+9 to see if it will let you into user programming. If not you will need to get the code. Who are you with now, their code may be common knowledge.

Have you tried 1 + Code?
Also check to make sure the smoke is correctly on it's base, there is a tamper switch, if I recall correctly.

Guess I am showing my honeywell roots. Heck, the thing I really liked about these panels was that you could disarm with:
code
Code+1
1+code
They are pretty forgiving in that way.

The Good: All I had to do was put the thing back on its base
DOH
The Bad: 4321 is not the installer code anymore. I was with Advanced Alarm Systems but the contract is up.
Thanks!
