I live in the Chicago area and it's starting to get cold. I've heard conflict things about baby koi surviving a cold winter. Please help!
Also, any suggestions on the best way to catch baby koi- is a butterfly net ideal?
Thanks!!!

What to do with koi during the winter depends on your pond. How large is your pond (how deep, filtration, heated?...)?
Catching koi: Use a net with a find (small holes) mesh. You do not want fins or any parts to pass through the net and get caught which will injure the fish. My koi are rather accustomed to me so I can get close without too much trouble. I gently come up enderneath them with the net. With larger fish I pick them up by hand. Little ones I gently lift out with the net.
