Hi all,
I recently canceled one of my 2 phone lines. Problem is, I forgot that it was the line that my alarm was on.
Brinks wants to charge me for a tech to come out and move the alarm to the other phone line.
But shouldn't that be pretty simple?
1. Find the alarm line.
2. Disco from the old phone line.
3. attach to the new phone line.
Isn't this something that I can do myself?
Thanks.

Sure, if you are confortable with phone wiring. You should be able to do this at the NID, unless brinks T-tapped an inside line. To make sure, find the RJ31X telco connection at the panel. Follow the wire to where in originates. You should see something like this:

Inside, you should see a 4 posts RED and GREEN and BLACK and YELLOW. You will probally need to move anything that is attached to the BLACK and YELLOW posts to the RED and GREEN. (Black to red and yellow to green).

Ignore the bottom posts in my picture as this is a VDSL splitter for IPTV.
Proceed with caution as your setup could be different. Once done with any work, call brinks to do a test while talking on the phone that the alarm is connected to. Hopefully you will get disconnected and they will receive your test.
Good luck:thumbup:
