Hi everyone,
I have installed the Simon XT unit and noticed after my installation that the DSL line was not working any longer.
I previously used the Simon 3 unit without any DSL line problem.
All I did was replacing the Simon 3 with the Simon XT, no changes of whatever to the phone line connections, and my DSL was gone. Does anyone have had a similar problem or have an idea what the problem could be? Tnx

Did you have an alarm DSL filter before?

Oh, I didn't think of it:
Simply unplug the alarm from the phone line. If the DSL issue goes away, then you probably need the filter. If not, then there is something else wrong with your _phone line_ or phone wiring that is unrelated to the alarm, and the timing is simply coincedental.

Hi Ron,
Thanks for your reply. Actually, no, I didn't use an alarm DSL filter with Simon 3. Since I simply replaced the panel with the XT one, I expected the DSL line to work as before. So I suspect that somehow the XT panel interferes with the DSL or is even defective, because I re-installed the Simon 3 panel and my DSL line worked again. I tried the XT with an ADSL filter, but no luck. Any clue?

Is the filter an _alarm_ filter? The standard ones don't work properly with alarm systems.

Ron,
I tested the Simon XT with a standard DSL filter. Will try with an alarm DSL filter and let you know the result. I'm however puzzled because the Simon 3 panel works fine, it is only the XT panel that causes a problem.

It can be unpredictable. Alarm interaction with DSL has always been a crapshoot. Another XT might not have this issue, or not have it with a different DSL provider.
