Hi All, I am in need of advice. I have a GE dishwasher that has just recently stopped working, any help you can provide will be great.
The dishwasher had been working properly, but just stopped working. From what i can see the dishwasher is just not filling up/ spraying water when it is running its cycle. I figured it out, when the soap wasn't being washed away when I ran the cycle.
I am thinking that either the valves under the sink are in the wrong position (recently my faucet broke, and i had to try to turn it off from under there - i just don't know which way to turn it) I have since tried turning both valves each way and tried to run the dishwasher with no avail. My other idea is that it is clogged- we have had multiple issues with build up in our pipes and tubes. I guess if this is makes sense... how do i got about checking to see if this is the issue?
Anyone have an idea for me. I try to be as handy as I can be, but really i havent done much plumbing on my own... the broken faucet was bad enough and now we have this issue!

Can you tell if none of the sprayers is spraying, do maybe some dishes get sprayed but others don't? That could indicate clogging. If there's nothing, it could be more likely to be supply...
I'm going through issues with clogging which probably is from hard water, although it's hard for me to believe after just a year and a half it could get to the point where the bottom rack wasn't getting sprayed at all... I cleaned a lot of junk out but it still isn't satisfactory yet.
I was hoping someone might be able to provide a real guide to cleaning everything out. GE's user manuals are useless to someone that doesn't want to pay for a service call for something they can probably do themselves.

A cup of vinegar dumped in.
Make sure your water level is up to normal also, to make sure the pump can pull all water without cavitating. If hard water were the issue, there is a chance water inlet screen may be clogged, and water level could be low.
How does your toilet bowl look, for signs of lime? How is water pressure in different fixtures in the house?
