My wife noticed a burning smell in the laundry room. It was coming from the dryer. It did not seem to be coming from the lint trap but from underneath. The dryer is nearly 8 years old; could it be the motor burning out?

I would guess that you have a lot of lint built up in dryer. Please give model # and type so we can help you clean it.

I'm having a similar problem. I noticed before that the dryer that came with the place I bought wasn't doing a good job of drying clothes. I noticed that the flexible vinyl vent was clogged with lint and replaced it with aluminum. The clothes dry much better now, but I notice a gas and/or burning smell at the exhaust outside the house. Could there still be some lint blockage at the dryer itself that is causing my problem?
