The last owners of my house took out the double sink and put in a single sink with a in-cabinet dishwasher. where the left sink was they put down some 1x2s (looks kinda like hardwood flooring) and then glued down some ceramic tile. well with a little bit of water hitting them the tile is starting to fall apart. I just looking for some ideas to get my wife off my back about finishing this and making it loook decent.

Could you take pictures and upload them to a photo sharing site, then post the image link here?

Glue & ceramic tiles on a counter is a bad no no.

These were taken as before shots of the walls but you can see the sink and the tile thing next to it.

Could you get a close up picture of this area?

Short of tearing everything out, I don't know what to tell you.

We do have talented and creative people here, so hang in there.

hoew much do you want to spend ?

you could probably find an old butcher block stand/whatever, and cut out a piece that would fit in there. or a piece of granite. you could go many different ways with it. how about a piece of stainless ?!!

i cannot get a close up of the area untill i buy some more AAs for my camera. not looking to spend a lot of money on it. i like the idea of stainless but the wife doesn't. she orginally said the butchers block but now she's not really sure. i kinda like the granite idea but i'm not sure on cost. i'll try to get some more batterys tommorrow

Hi lost_punk,

This is what I'd do--> look for something really different (so it will look like a decoration detail of kitchen)--> some suggestions--> a butcher block (with a separate frame, so you can use it out of the dishwasher place)--> a thin DIY drawer or box, to set the cutlery--> a wine rack with two rows
