Maytag LA712 stopped in mid-cycle. I cleaned the timer with contact spray and it now fills, rinses and spins but won't agitate in wash or rinse cycle and sometimes timer won't advance. Since replacement timer is quite costly, I'm unwilling to buy one without being sure it will fix the problem. I'm skilled with electronics so I could take voltage measurements in various cycles to test the unit if I had a schematic with cycle stages and expected measurements. I don't know whether the transmission gets instructions directly from timer or has additional electrical parts to instruct it which mode to enter.

Please advise how to access "diagram under consul" I'll dis-assemble and check both lid switches. Since it spins, I assumed lid switch was OK but didn't realize there were two.

Is your question that you can't figure out how to unscrew anything to get into the control panel, on your particular machine?
