I wanted to paint my closet wall the same colors as the rest of the room. However my friend said any non-white color will affect the clothes over time. I guess it's similar like rubbing off from the wall unto the clothes or like delayed overspray. My friend recommends to paint the closet wall white just to be safe.
Is that true what my friend said? If not, what is the proper timeframe to have the paint fully dry before racking up my clothes?

There is nothing "magic" about colored pigment that makes it vastly different from white pigment. If the colored stuff did something, chances are the white stuff will also.
All that said, you have to really be clumsy hanging clothes, and hang them soaking wet, for any but the cheapest, nasty, BigBoxCo flat paint to rub off.
Beyond the possibility of the clothes rubbing the paint off, there is nothing to worry about.

The only aspect of any paint any color that would effect clothes in a closet is it's quality level.Low end bottom quality paints can chalk or rub off.Even then you'd probably have to actually push the item into it and scrub to get unremoveable paint on it.
Just use decent quality paint such as the same paint you're using on the walls of the room and you're good regardless of color.

I agree, I've never had an issue with any color when using quality paint.
Personally I prefer a lighter color in a closet. Lighter colors usually touch up a little better [means you might can postpone repainting] and especially closets without lighting, benifit from the lighter color.
Not all paints cure/dry at the same rate. The label should indicate both dry to touch and recoat times. It is always best to go with the longest time plus a little before reloading the closet.

Ditto. Been painting since I was 9 y.o. Never had a problem with paint rubbing off on anything. Think about it. If you paint closet with same paint as on bedroom walls, when you brushed up against the wall paint, it would come off on your clothing. As far as dry to touch and replacement time of clothing, check you label and feel the paint. Higher humidity will require additional drying time.
Ask your friend to cite his sources for the use of non-white paint in closets and problems with rubbing off on clothing. I have never experienced or read this problem on any major paint manufacturer's site or paint problem site.

Thanks for the feedback everybody. Maybe my friend (or might be friend's friend?) had a bad paint experience in the closet, so just basing on that experience. Marksr, that's a good advice to use a lighter shade of the wall. I might consider this.
