Ge profile electric dryer about 9 years old. Heating elements come on for just a couple of minutes and go right back off. It does this in all settings. The vent is clean and clear of lint. What is normally the problem and what should I test? Thanks!

Try it with the vent off the back of dryer first and if it still dose the same thing I would replace the thermostats. Most likely cause of problem is still a bad vent system.

Ive totally taken the vent off and vacuumed the inside of the dryer out, stiill heats, but goes off too quick to dry a large load. I can't find the thermostats, it's suppose to have 2 or 3, I think located on the top of the heating coil unit. Getting to that location without taking the whole drum out seems impossible....agh! Theres got to be an easier way to get to them I hope. Any suggestions? Thank you very much for your help...debbie

Give model # and I can see machine but most GE you have to remove drum to get to the thermostats. Should only take about 15 minutes to take apart. before any work UNPLUG DRYER LET US KNOW HOW THINGS ARE GOING. When you have dryer apart 1st ckeck to see if both heater elements are good. If I remember right GE has 2 elements. Both elements should have continuity.

The model # is DNXR473EWOWW SER#AV721133A.GE profile. If you could tell me the location of the thermostats, thermal fuse or whatever and how many there are I would really appreciate it. Thank you sooooo much! debbie

UNPLUG DRYER FIRST
Here is a link to your machine. Will have pictures to help find parts, Look under drum and most of the parts talked about are there;

To disassemble open door there are 2 screws in the top of door opening, take out screws and top will slide out to you and lift up. back of top is under consul so will be a little hard to get off,
Inside of front panel are 2 screws 1 on each side take them out and front panel will lt out and lift off. Unplug wires to door switch (mark wires as they are easy to get wrong putting back). Reach arms in under drum and find belt tension er and pull down than while holding down take belt off motor pulley, Drum will be able to pull straight out and than you can get to thermostat or heater element.
