Help!
I installed an Ademco Vista 20P panel with a 6160 Keypad and a 6150RF keypad over 2 years ago. I want to add 2 - 5804 keyfobs to my system. My problem is this, it has been awhile since I set this up and I’m afraid I’m going to mess something up when I try to add the 5804 keyfobs.

I understand that I can program the 5804 with the 6160 keypad. Is this the best way to do this? I also understand that I can program them using the 6150 RF keypad and this is supposed to be a lot simpler. What I am afraid of is, that when I disconnect the power from the 6150 RF and power back on that I will have to reprogram everything and not be able to get things back to where I had it. Is this true? How simple is it to install the 5804’s using the 6150RF?
I sure would appreciate any directions you could give me on this. Thanks in advance. Sparky

It is pretty easy to do with the 6150Rf. Throw the tamper on the back of the keypad then hold 1+3 (I think) to get into programming. You will need to follow along with the 6150rf instructions on this.

6150RF pros:

1.)Uses no zones
2.)Can utiulize the relay on the keypad

Since you have a 6160 I think it is easier to program in zone programming field #56

6160 system programming pros:

1.)easier
2.)if using open and closing the system will log the keyfob that armed or disarmed

Help,
It was supposed to be easy to install a 5804 keyfob with the 6150 RF keypad, but when I did, it accepted the wireless key but it doesn't work and I get a 'check 100' on the 6150RF keypad and I get a message on the other keypad to 'Check 100 RF receiver'.

I would appreciate any help on this. Why is the message there? Why doesn't the 5804 work? I thought the 6150RF accepted the key, but it doesn't work. Thanks in advance.

Which procedure did you try to use? Please be specific, the crystal ball gets interference from this range....

I think that I did not enter the 4 digit user code for the wieless key. What is this and where do I find it? I deleted the 5804 from the 6150RF keypad and the 'check 100' went away.

I am not sure about entering the 4digit user code for the wireless key. The manual says to press 2 and then then Enter the 4-digit user code for the wireless key. I am not sure where to find this. Just getting confused.

If you could point me in the right direcetion. I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Check 100: you got thkis from taking the keypad off the backpate. The tamper causes the check 100
You need to enter the used code that will correspond with the keyfob. If you just have the one code, then use that.

I could walk you through this step by step, but the 6150rf instructions does a better job and has pictures to boot ;)

The problem I have is that I don't know what the user code is or where to look for it. If you could tell me what they are refering to and where I could find the user code, it would really be appreciated. Again thanks for your help.

Let me ask you this. If you were going to turn your alarm off, what would be the first for digits you press on the keypad? No, don't tell me. Just remember, this is the user code. Now, when you program the fob, this is the 4 digit code you enter.

Do I feel like an idiot.

Thanks for not making me look too bad. I just could not get that through my head what they were refering to. Thanks again. As the old saying goes - ' You learn something new everyday '. Thanks.
