Hello,
I have an old (1987 "Acron Avenger II) security system with a number of "Window Bug" brand glass breaking sensors that were secured to the window with an adhesive. I have had to replace the glass on some windows which necessitated removing the sensors (just used a razor) and now I cannot find a way to re-attach them to the new glass. I have tried double-stick tape and the liek but the system does not recognize that the sensors are back in place. Do I need to do something different to re-attach them or is this an issue with the system? Or perhaps I need to purchase new sensors? Thanks for any help.

There is a specialty adhesive tape that comes with those shock sensors that holds them but properly transmits impact to the device. I'm not sure if anyone sells it seperately from the shock sensors. It's made by 3M, but isn't even listed on their catalog.
Sadly, if they are showing open, then the removal probably damaged the shock sensors.
Get a new set, they are relatively inexpensive.

Is replacing the sensors an easy DIY project....do I just need to replace the part that sticks to the window or will I need to do any re-wiring and/or re-programming of the system? Are there any instructions available for what I need to do?
Also...any idea where I can get replacements and how much they should cost?
THANKS AGAIN, I really appreciate the help.

You just crimp the new ones onto the ends of the wires the old ones are connected to, and peel the tape and stick them to the glass.
When all is said, they are just a specialized switch.
To verify that the window bugs are the problem, just short the two wire leads coming out of them together. Your zone should close.
Buy them by price, they are all pretty much the same. Websearch using the phrase "glass break shock sensor"

Are they round with a screw in the middle? If yes, I believe
the wire part has to be directed to about 10 o'clock. If they
are square without a screw, than either they're not spliced
properly or your damaged them. :coffee:

They're round with a screw in the middle; I'll try orienting them to 10 O'clock - it never occurred to me that this would matter.
If I need to replace them, do I just snip the wires out of the old sensors with a wire cutter? I tried to remove them from the old sensor and they seem to be in there pretty tightly. Just trying to figure out if I need to cut them, or if they're just supposed to slide out or something which I can't seem able to make them do. Thanks!

Yeah, just cut the wires. The actual splice to the field wiring for the alarm is likely buried in the wall void, so your splices will have to be out in the open unless you want to do wall patching.

Thanks, but no need to cut anything at this point because Vector18 is an ALARM GOD!!! I just re-oriented the sensors so the wire coming out of the sensor was at the 10:00 position and - shazam! - its back online! In fact, the sensors don't even need to be attached to the windows; even if they're dangling loosely the zone is OK so long as they're dangling at 10:00. Thanks again for the help on this forum!!!
