Hi everyone,
Here's the deal... My husband, my father and a family friend are in the midst of building a 40ft by 12ft Trex deck on the back of my house. We went to order the railing today and ordered Trex Artisan series 6X6 post sleeves.... because we have 6X6 posts on our deck, so we just "assumed" these 6X6 posts would work for us.
Sooo, we have now found out that the 6X6 sleeves are made to fit a 4X4 instead of a 6X6 post. :wall: Urrgghhh!!! So, has anyone installed these sleeves? Is there ANY way we could make them fit a 6X6 post? If not, do you think it would be possible to trim down the 6X6 posts enough to fit them on there? And, if so, how would you suggest we go about trimming down the posts?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. I just spent THOUSANDS of dollars today and now think I have the wrong stuff. I'm literally a little sick on my stomach!
Thanks much!

Call and cancell the order or change the order. Even if you have to pay a restocking fee it will be easier tha trying to rip the 6x6 down to a 4x4.

The problem is that Trex does not make a post sleeve that works for 6X6 posts.... and, we have 10 6X6 posts coming up through the deck. So, I don't know what other choice I have. Any other ideas?
