I have A safewatch pro 3000en with the TOUCH CENTER keypad. This is the only kepad in the house. We moved in this house a year and a half ago. At that time I played with the system and set off the alarm. (sound familiar?) I decided to try and get it working again after discovering your DYI site. Great site bye the way!
I have searched for hours trying to find how to disaarm the alarm. There are many threads that relate to a more standard keypad than the 6270. Such as the instructions as to power the system down, and press * + # on the conventional keypad within 50 seconds of power restore to get into programming. I also downloaded the vista20p intallers manual thanks to one of your links.
I did discover that the installer code is still 6321 by going into set up and it asked me to enter a code, it verified it OK. This was all done while being armed and secure.
Here is my problem, I don't know the user code that set the alarm so I can't disarm it. We know that the installer code won't disarm it either. (I did try that code) I'm not sure about the master code, would the proper master code disarm it at this point? (I did try 1234, access failed)
If any one has any answers to my questions or suggestions to what I could try, I would be very grateful.

If it is NOT MONITORED disarm it with the duress code 2580. Then, enter setup to program a new code with the installer code.

Reply: the system is not monitored. Could you pls elaborate on disarming it with the duress code 2580 and putting in a new code. This is all very new to me except what I've read in this forum. Thanks.

You simply enter the code + 1 like any other code. Unplug the phone line, first, because the signal sent is a treated as a silent panic, and ADT has been known to dispatch on even a discontinued account for panics.
Basically any of the secondary user codes can be programmed with the attribute of being a duress code. The code cited is _frequently_ programmed but is not certain, it may be a regional preference.
The installer basically ignored the manufacturers instructions by installing the touch keypad without a conventional keypad.
The only way you are going to get into this system short of a lucky guess is to temporarily install a conventional keypad (do you have any friends that have an ademco based system that will trust you with a keypad for an afternoon?)

You mentioned entering a code + 1 like any other code. My touchcentre will only allow 4 digits then process the code and diplays denied and gives a new screen to retry a different code. (this is under the disarm tab)
In the closet there is a unit with an antenna on it, I assume this is for wireless dial out, which I am not sure how to disconnect at this time.
If I can borrow a conventional keypad. Does this process look good. I would start the unit up and hold the * & # down during power up. Then enter 1632 (installer code) + 8 + 01 new code 2 times to reset master code. Some are installer code requires 8 02 then new code 2 times. Does this make sense?

I didn't think that code would work, the local ADT dealer doesn't routinely program duress codes (too many people forget and use them and get a dispatch)
You missed a step. Once in program mode after * + #, press #20 to read back the installer code (it is _usually_ 6321, but it's smart to check)
Exit programming with *99
_Then_ use the installer code + 8 + 02 + [new master code] to set a new code

Mr. Ron
I borrowed a keypad and hooked it up. The model is a kp5501z. I disconnect my keypad and tied this one into the panel. I tried pushing the * + # but the unit only shows the time for a short period and the trouble light comes on with a blank display and beeps every 10 seconds. When I hooked my 6270 keypad backup the system is still armed. Any thoughts on how to proceed.

You are trying to mix apples and oranges. 5501z is a _DSC_ part. You need an HONEYWELL/ADEMCO keypad.
(and you don't have to remove the other keypad, the conventional one just connects to the same terminals at the motherboard)

Thanks Mr.Ron,
I missed the point of the keypad being from HONEYWELL/ADEMCO, I just knew it was a ADT system. I will try to get a 6160 or something like that.

Please give the FAQ a read. One of the first statements is that ADT doesn't _build_ hardware, they pay to have it modified for their specific standards. There are several manufacturer's hardware bearing the ADT logo.

The only way you are going to get into this system short of a lucky guess is to temporarily install a conventional keypad (do you have any friends that have an ademco based system that will trust you with a keypad for an afternoon?)
Please keep in mind my system is in alarmed state. If I wire in a used 6139 keypad into the control panel will I be able to go in program mode after * + #, press #20 to read back the installer code
Exit programming with *99
_Then_ use the installer code + 8 + 02 + [new master code] to set a new code?
Will the vista 20 unit allow me to have control with the 6139 keypad or is there an issue that the keypad wasn’t addressed before the system was armed?
Thanks.

Keypad address 16 is always enabled for this control. You can wire up a 6128, 6139, 6150 or 6160. It would be best to use a 6150/6160 from a vista 15/20 or safewatch 3000 that is the only keypad as it should already be addressed as 16.

I have a lead on getting a 6139. I have no idea what address the keypad was on when installed. Does the keypad hold the address or is it in the main control panel?
When I hook the 6139 up should I disconnect the other keypad or just wire it into the control panel with 6270?

The keypad address is stored in the keypad. You can either remove and replace the touchscreen with the keypad, or just wire it in parallel at the panel.
Only issue with the 6139 is that they were used on older systems that did not use keypad adressing (all keypads set to 31). You can still use it, but you will need to perform the following.
1. Power down control (battery and transformer disconnected)
2. Wire up keypad ( I would just wire at the panel)
3. Power up panel while holding the 1 and 3 button.
4. Enter keypad address 16 (this address is always enabled on your panel.
5. Power down panel again
6. Power up and hold * and # until the keypad reads 20 or installer code. YOU SHOULD NOW BE IN PROGRAMMING
7. verify installer code by entering #20 Probally 6321
8. Enter *39 and enter 0. This should change power up in previous state to off.
9. Exit programming with *99
(may need to power down again, if panel returns to armed state)
10. Make sure the ready light is on and enter the following to change the master code [installer code] + 8 + 02 +[new 4 digit code] + [new 4 digit code]
Should be good to go...good luck.

Mr. Ron is right but....on a touchcenter kp you need to go into console mode and then it will look just like a 6160.
once at the main screen press more choices or more options at which time push console mode and follow Mr. Rons' directions.

For most functions, yes, the touchpad will emulate a 6160, but _not_ for the * + # function. That only works on a conventional keypad.

Success! I hooked up the 6139 at the panel, followed the steps to address the kekpad, changed the power up in previous state to off and then change the master code back to 1234.
I couldn't have done it with everyones help. Thank you very very much.
