i've got a dewalt variable speed router model dw618. anyway, yesterday i was using it when i heard a click (snap, pop kinda) and it started turning at full speed. now it only turns at full speed no matter what the variable speed dial is set to. any idea why this happened and wether are not it's repairable? thanks.

Sounds like your variable speed control shorted out. Dewalt makes a good router. If it's still under warrantie they should fix it. If not you can properly get the part you need at a Dewalt dealer. If thats not possible then you could get a variable speed control that you plug your router into.

I have the 618 router. Just go to the Dewalt site and explain your problem in an e-mail to their customer service. They have always been very helpful.
