Had service come out and clear drain pipe few months ago after leak flooded section of basement. I've recently noticed some water coming out from under my A/C unit again and "this time" the repairman opened the coil compartment and noticed that the drain pan is tilted back and away from the drain pipe and there is a small crack. All the condensate is collecting in the back right instead of running out the front left. I'm being told that I cannot simply replace the pan and that the coil needs to be replaced, at a cost of $1000-$1200. This seems insane! Can I simply replace the pan without replacing the coils? Thanks!

The price does seem kinda high.. I would get a 2nd quote from another dealer.
If dealer has a very good sheetmetal guy, they may be able to build a new pan for your coil.

Thanks. The pan the coil is currently sitting in is actually plastic. Does that matter?

If it's plastic, then some kind of epoxy repair could be done...??
