(Sorry had typos in my other post that were misleading to the subject)
All,
Just noticed this issue today as today was the first time for me to move my Thermostat from Off to Heat. It has been in the Off position for about 3 weeks...previously it was on Cool for the Summer.
I switch it to Heat and I hear the fan outside start up like normal. But after a few minutes I don't hear it any longer. Sure enough it has stopped turning even though the house is still at 67 and the thermostat is set at 69. I move it back to the Off position and wait a bit and then move it back to Heat. Same thing works for a while then stops.
I open the unit outside and start reading about stuff online and figure out what a contactor is. I do the same thing...move the switch to OFF, wait 30 mins, move it to Heat..and it comes back on. However, this time when it shuts off after a couple of minutes, I press the button on the contactor and it starts right back up, but will only stay running as long as the button is pushed.
I figured this was easy, its a bad contactor but from what I have read....a bad contactor would keep the unit running until the power to the whole unit was turned off. So now I am kind of stuck as to what to do next.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Dan
