I don't see a problem as long as they are set to the same cutout or maximum pressure. You don't want one compressor only rated to 175 psi pumping into a cheap tank rated at 100 psi.
Make sure your electrical circuit is big enough to handle this...You probably need this on two separate circuits

You can connect 2 or more compressors together but one thing you might need to be considered. The cut and out pressures would probably need to be adjusted to the same pressures, that way both would run about the same time.
Instead of one running then the other, one running longer or one running continuously.

You won't get more pressure with two compressors and it will drive you crazy having both run at the same time. Why not just get an axillary tank and use for your volume collector? Put it in line with the compressor and the use-point, with a drain petcock and drain it daily.

You will not get more pressure as said but you will get more volume.
As long as the compressors are set to similar pressures the one set at the lower pressure will be the first to start and stop and would be the lead with the higher one being the lag or last to start and stop.
You might have to tweak the settings a bit to get them running right.
You will also need to have them plugged into different ccts.

Which brings back the question...why? You don't need the extra compressor and motor running at all. All you need is a volume tank. Solving problems is easy, putting them into perspective is quite difficult.
