Hi all,

I just bought a house with an Ademco Vista 4120XM system. Right now I am taking down wallpaper (its covering every surface!). I want to unscrew and pull away from the wall some of the components to the system (the keypad, the motion detectors etc.) but I am concerned that if I start tampering with them it might set off an alarm to warn that the components are being tampered with.

There is no mention of this in the manual but I used to rent a house with an alarm system and once, when I was trying to unscrew the front panel of that (to try and work out why it was buzzing incessantly), it tripped the alarm the moment I pulled the panel away from its housing.

Is there any danger of that with this system?

As long as the system isn't armed, and you don't fumble and squeeze a panic button on the keypad, there's nothing to worry about.
