I just purchased a MTD Yard Machine 12.5 HP 38" cut Shift-on-the-go. 5 speed. There is one set of numbers where the model and serial number would be. The number is 1183A MW.
The left seat bracket has a part number of 17703. I think the seat number is 9332 MW. That is on a sticker on the seat its self.
It has a Briggs and Straton engine model 288707, Type 0170-01 Code 970115ZA. The engine runs great and it cuts pretty good, I need to adjust the deck and adjust it so that the blades stop when they are suppose to. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Check the blade brakes that are bolted under each footrest. If they are worn, they won't stop the blades.

One is missing and neither one is touching when the deck is raised. I also noted after cutting the grass that the mow did not cut good a all, looks like the blades or deck is aligned wrong.
