I have a brute, that I aquired free due to having a crankshaft hole in the engine. Picked up a 9hp briggs used & found i needed an engine with a reduction drive built in !!!!!
Simply add a jack shaft and run off the crankshaft, duh.
Question does the reducrion drive shaft turn in the same direction as the crankshaft ???
may be something wrong with the transmision (rubber drive wheel on a steel dish), Jack shaft works BUT I have 6 speeds in reverse !!!! help

I believe some gear reduction boxes were reverse rotation if I recall correctly, and I do know that if the engine used the camshaft as a 1/2 speed drive for gear reduction instead of a reduction gearbox, then it would have been reverse rotation.

I don't know how your unit is set up, but getting the rubber drive disk on the opposite side of the drive disk would reverse the drive.
