Hi,

I have a Kitcheaid in-countertop gas stove. Recently the delay between the sparks when I turn on the gas has gotten much longer. It's about one spark every five seconds. Meanwhile the gas is pouring out. Could it be a bad ground somewhere? Do I need a new spark module? It uses a Whirlpool spark module #4454392 if that helps any. Thanks in advance?

Hello oshkosh. Welcome to Gas Appliances topic and our Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Based upon the problems description and making an assumption the electrical current, from the wall receptacle has the correct polarity and is properly grounded, the spark module is defective. Replacing that part should resolve the problem.

Retail parts dealers and appliances parts stores can also help determine what the possible problem may be based upon that specific brand and model. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Dealers and appliances parts stores are listed in the phone book.

Cautionary Reminder Note:
Before attempting any repairs, be sure to unplug the appliance from the wall receptacle power source first.
