Kitchen Large Electric Appliances - Amana Washer Won't Drain

I have an Amana Washer Lw3503 (or PLW3503) that will not pump the water out. The timer goes through the cycle as if it's working, but during the drain cycle the timer just advances slowly never turning pump on.

Then when it starts spinning it has a full tub of water and spins it all over the place. I replaced the timer last month.

Also, the instruction manual ays when opening the door the tub will stop spinning in seconds. It doesn't, only stops when it runs out of momentum. Door shuts off other mechanisms OK.

Pump is mounted directly to motor so if the basket spins the pump should be working. Take front off and look at drain hose coming from tub to pump to see if anything is stuck there, Look up into tub and be sure the hole in tub is clear. Let us know how things are going.

What hapens is this. It goes through wash cycle and when it is time for the pump to drain, everything stops except the timer. Once the timer gets near the spin cycle to discharge the remaining dirty water it starts spinning. The Motor does not turn during what should be the pump drain cycle. If you move timer to the rinse cycle it works the same way. Fills, rinses, nothing happens, then spin to discharge remaining rinse water.

Will your washer spin with the lid raised? The reason I ask is that perhaps the lid switch is shot, or jammed somehow, so that it is electrically "closed". If the tub spins with lid open, then this (faulty lid switch) explains why no braking.

I am not sure of this, but even say that opening the lid starts to stop the spinning, gradually. Maybe if you have a 3 or 4 wire lid switch, that there is something wrong with the other part of the lid switch that might energize the braking. ? Pugsl?

Haven't checked to see type of switch, however, it will not spin or agitate with the lid open. Seems to work normal unless it is a double throw switch.

But real problem is that it won't pump water out as the motor does not run during the timer cycle as it should. Nothing happens during this cycle except the timer advances.

Problem solved. Bought new washer :)

I can't remember, but if a certain model washer has say a pump that has a solenoid, will the motor still turn?, or does the solenoid have to come on for the motor to work? Because I am wondering if all he had wrong was some bad pump solenoid switch.

It's possible too that the one year timer already went south.
