Not sure how much we can help and we don't have a forum for cameras and video cameras. I really don't understand what you are saying either. Are you saying the casette door will not open when there is a tape installed, and it will eject open if there is not a tape installed?

Have you tried calling the manufacturer? I personally would not even mess with such a device because there are so many moving parts.

Mark is right on: Go to the Cannon Support Page (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SupportIndexAct) and put in the category, product type and model. When the next page pops up, select "arrange service".

You'll be without your camera for four weeks, but it will be fixed properly when it comes back. Please don't take it apart. You can easily do more damage to it than it has now.
