Last winter I bought a new Maytag slide-in type electric stove. Everything seems to work well but there is a annoying problem with the control panel clock display. If I touch (push) the bake button I sometimes hear a click from somewhere behind the panel, the display flashes the number 30 and then returns to the clock display but the time is reset to the last time the clocks time had been inputted after the power has been turned off and restored. I can reset the clock, push the bake button and input the desired temp with no problem. This resetting on the touch of the buttons only happens once in a while so it's not consistant.
I called Sears for service (still under warrenty) and they came out promptly and replaced the control panel. We thought all was well but a few days later same problem reappeared. The tech said he'd never seen the problem I described before and was sure replacing the panel would do the trick. Guess not but what else could be causing a problem? We checked the wiring to make sure it was done properly (it was fine) and it appeared all the connections were tight. Is the 30 that is flashed possible an error code? Tech didn't know. Has anyone experienced this problem?
I can shut the time display off as everything else seems to work ok but I shouldn't have to do that. I thought I'd ask before complaining about it to Sears again. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Update on problem:
Called Sears to come out again to look at this display problem. This time the tech called Maytag directly to see if there was anything they could help with. Sure enough, they were aware of the problem. The incoming line noise was enough to screw up the display and recommended putting on a ferrite bead on the line. It seems to have done the trick as all is well now. So..if you are having weird display problems.....

Update on the update:
Problem is back, ferrite bead didn't do the trick. I'm going to call the service people again, waste an afternoon waiting for them to come to my house again. Man I'm getting sick of this and I don't know where to go next. Personally, I would like to blow this stove up and buy from a better manufacture next time. What happened to Maytag?
Sorry for the rant, just tired of getting screwed by a company I used to think was top notch.

Do you have an owners manual that lists things to check out that deal with functions and errors on the display? I don't think I would ever buy from a company that did not include such a thing. Appliances now have one more thing that is quite complex for people to troubleshoot, when they have these digital control panels now. Even a tech would have to be specifically trained for that model.

I hear ya ecman, there's no excuse for bad documentation from manufactures. This stove didn't even have a wiring diagram attached anywhere on the stove but I was able to get one on another forum. And I probably won't be buying anything from Maytag in the future.
Called for service on this panel problem again yesterday and a tech is coming today. I don't know what he's going to replace as everything of importance has been replaced already. I was looking at the reciepts (still under warrenty but they give you one anyway) and they have nearly the price of the stove in warrenty costs and more are coming. Hope they can fix the problem this time as we like the stove but it needs to work correctly. My fear is to keep having these problems after the warrenty is up and I'll have to start paying. Or I can spend more money on an extended warrenty that I should not need, it's just a stinking stove.
