I doing the first season test fire of my furnace and it is not giving heat. The furnace is a Trane XL80 TUD120R960A1 about 15yrs old with a Honeywell Chronomatic III Thermostat. The burner does not ignite and the test light on the furnace shows No -Call for Heat ( 4 slow flashes), but should show Call for Heat (4 Fast Flashes). I have powered down the furnace for a minute to reset the computer and switched the thermostat to heat mode on and off several times. The room temperature is 68 F and I lowered the set point to 64 F. What should I check next?

I found the problem - cockpit error. I needed to raise the set point 2 deg *above* the room temp. Burners fired when setpoint at 70 deg.

You are not the only one to ever have erred like that. When I took over this commercial building I found that the ex-person thought they were saving the owners money, when building unoccupied, by turning the temps DOWN overnight and empty weekends, for the a/c.
