Kenmore washing machine will not fill with cold water. checked the water line hose and cleaned out the screen and then checked the inlet valve. The cold water side looks as if it was blown out and melted. Could it be to just replace the inlet valve or should I install the wire that is connected to it as well?

You will need to replace the water fill valve. If wires are melted I would also replace them. Have never seen a valve melted, you may have other problems also.

It was the washer inlet valve. When I saw that the hose was passing water, I saw that the inlet was melted on the cold water post on the part of the valve. I got the part from Sears and replaced it. Checked the wires and all were still good. The washer is now getting the cold water to pass again. Saved me from buying another washer for a part that cost me a total of $ 25.01 and installed it myself.
Thank you for your help in this , my heros.
