Kenmore 106.9552681.........icemaker 106.626636
I've been monitoring my icemaker due to a clicking noise. The ice ejector/gear was clicking and not ejecting ice.Took unit out for thaw,re-installed and now water overflow.Checked level and watched.
Heard ice drop so I scampered to check refill, noticed sparking coming from behind large gear, water still overflowing.
My original thoughts were heater element not working but now signs point to new one.
Your thoughts..........

BUMP,
Any idea on a reasonably priced replacement?

Water overflowing causing the arcing perhaps?

I am currently repairing a 30? year old dishwasher, with front panel off, from driblets of water escaping the soap holder and running down the soap holder activation switch and arcing to metal, and I am fixing it up over a 2 day time period with strategically applied silicone caulk (after I carved off carbon tracking and otherwise cleaned up the switch), and that if soapy water escapes it will follow the caulk path I created (it will run back down into bottom of machine). I get to test my work tomorrow.

Often in this line of work, you have to get right in and explore things and figure it out and improvise.

In your case, water overflowing does not sound good and probably is cause?
