Hello,

We have recently purchased a home with this system installed and do not want to activate the monitoring service - however, we would like to use the system "unmonitored". Problem is that we do not have the "Master Code" to be able to change anything - the day we moved in, the system was CHIMING every time a door was opened. We could not find a way to override it with no code - so we disconnected the battery at the main panel in the basement.

Does anyone know how to "override" or "reset" the master code?? Or is this something that has to be done by ADT?

Thank you,
Melissa

It's a modified Ademco Vista 20P. See the following thread:

:help: My nephew bought a home with the Safewatch Pro 3000 - Security 300 Manager system already installed. He did not want it so he removed it and gave it to me for use in my garage. No idea what the passwords or codes are. I have it powered up ready to program -how do you reset the passwords /codes etc. Where can one find a user manual for this.

I've merged Chimp's question with the thread that answered the same question a day ago...

Thanks for the help, guys.
Reset the code using the instructions...Worked like a charm.
Now I will have to read up on how to bypass the motion detection zones in the house so we can set the alarm when we leave the house and not have the pets set it off!
CHEERS.

You can arm in the "stay" mode, this bypasses any programmed motion detectors. If you read the manual, there is a lot of good information.

Hi kcxj,

We have been doing that at night when we're home...but when we leave the house, we are not sure how much of a delay there is to allow us to leave through the attached garage as there is no audible exit delay (the panel is inside the house and you have to exit through the door into the garage, then out of the house through the door to the outside).
There is a motion detector in the garage as well.

Ideally I think that we would like to use the "away" setting when leaving the house...with the two internal (in the house)motion detection zones bypassed. I would like to keep the motion detector in the garage armed since there are windows in the garage that are not protected by contacts.

I do have the manual that I printed from the ADT website. And the previous homeowner has left the "cheat sheet" that shows us which zones are which etc. so I will just have to take some time to read and play with it to get it to do what we need.

If I fail miserably, I will likely be back to ask more questions....LOL.

BTW - This is a GREAT website. As a new homeowner, the info I have been able to gather on here has been quite helpful.

Thanks again!
Melissa

The exit delay is the same for stay and away (you just don't hear the exit warning beeps).

To best satisfy your needs, I would create a Macro to arm in away, bypassing the interior motions. This could be assigned to function key D (the unused button under the FIRE, POLICE and MEDICAL panic buttons. If you're crafting you could place a sticker on the button that reads: "DAY", etc.
