Hi, I am looking for some recomendations for replacing a Ranger 8980E control panel with 8 wired zones.
We bought a 15 year old house with this Ranger type control panel. The privious owner failed to provide us with any key codes. The system seem to be in working condition - we just can not active, or reprogram.
I am looking for a replacement for the actual control panel. I am also trying to find out if any of the external equipment (sensors, key pads) would need to be replaced as well.
Thanks,
Patrick

While the 8980e was a pretty good system in it's day, they are notoriously not user friendly when it comes to reprogramming, so a swap is in order, indeed.
The control and keypad(s) are what you have to replace. All other components are generally universal. If you have motion detectors, if they look particularly old or battered (paint coated, for example), consider swapping those as well.
