Hey,
I have anESAB mini arc 130 110v welder and it has been fine since the 90's but just recently I went to turn it on and it trips the circuit immediatley. I took the cover off of it and nothing seems obvious. No burnt marks or loose wires visible. Anyone have an idea? I use this thing ALL the time and I really can't have it down like this.

Thanks,
ryan

If a breaker trips. There is a short. Start at the breaker and move toward the welder looking for the short. If you cant find the short there. The welder may have an internal short.

well, thank you for a response. I actually did what you suggested almost immeditely and found that teh short is in teh welding machine somewhere. My question is I guess how would you go about going through different parts of teh ssystem to find the short without taking everything apart? I suoppose I can use my multimeter to flow electric through parts but how can I be sure of how much to flow and will I eventually blow the fuse on the multimeter.

Thanks,
Ryan:
