I am stripping an old oak side board. It was painted a barnyard red color. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get into the crevices of the design piece. I used a stripping solution and was able to get some of it with an electric sander.

I did buy a small wire brush and was going to go at it with more stripping solution. Any other ideas?

Thanks so much.

Tough one. There are scrapers that fit tight spots and brass brushes that will remove paint/finish but not damage the wood. But once you get down to those tiny spots, go slowly so as not to ruin the detail.

You may need to use some odd shaped tools [matching the shape of the wood] to carefully scrape away the paint - and maybe a thin layer of wood.

There are some scrapers commercially made that will work but I can't think of the name. :( . I don't do a lot of stripping but when I need an odd shaped scraper I usually grind my own out of some scrap steel ;)
