I have the ADT safewatch pro 3000 installed in my house ( from previous owner). All it does is CHIME when I open the door. The display shows FC and CHIME. I was going through the forum and trying to see if I could program it.

I tried, going into the programming mode by entering 6321+800. It displays '20'.
Then I entered 6321+8+02+[new code]+[new code] (I tried this step entering newcode once and twice)
I exited using *99

To test I entered my [new code]+9 -> CHIME showed up
I did it again to switch off chime mode. I did not see any difference! I tried opening door. Beep sound came as earlier.

I have not tried by turning power on/off. That's going to be my next step. But I want to know, am I doing the right thing here.

Also couple of questions.
I have the small box just above (around 2ft ht) the keypad on the wall, don't know what it's for.
Also, the control panel is locked! and I do not have the key. Do I need to open this box anytime?
Does one needs to go programming mode everytime to set things off or on?? for ex. CHIME on/off

Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

You only need to enter programming to make changes to system programming, i.e. zones, dialer, entry/exit delays.

You DO NOT need to enter programming to change the master code. While in the ready mode, enter 6321+802+new code + new code.

The key is most likely on top of the box.

The Device above your keypad is the siren. (press 6321+50 if you want to test it.)

Websearch using the phrase "vista 20p installer manual". This system is a slightly modified version of the 20p, and the manual will help a lot.

Thank you very much guys!. that helped a lot. I could able to test some of the functions. But unfortunately day/time (code+#+63) did not work! Also, I see a FC error with NOT READY flashing! I read in the manual this is a communication error. Since I do not have the monitoring, I am planing to update my telepone numbers using *41 and *42 method (+10 digits phone no). I think that should work! I read one way to test this function as <installercode>+5+1 which displays phone status. Is there any other method I can use without arming the system?

again thanks for time and help. I really appreciate it.

You do not have an alpha keypad, you can not view the panel time without one.

You cannot put a cell phone in here as you will still get a com fail, the panel needs a handshake from a receiver.

You will be best off deleting the numbers completely.

thanks kcxj. I got rid off FC error but it's keep flashing NOT READY with 03 ! I think it's showing something wrong in zone 3 but not able to find it (doors are closed).

any clue on this? thanks.

What is zone 3?

If you do not know, there are a few different places to look...

Check the keypad door--is it labeled there?

Check the panel--ADT is very good about leaving a data sheet that has the programming information, this will be a peice of paper inside the panel.

Let us know what it is so we can help track it down.

Perfect direction kcxj! thank you very much. It is written inside the panel "03 living motion". I have a sensor in the living room. So, what does 'NOT READY' indicates?

thanks.

Not ready 03, simply means that the motion detector is sensing movement. Often times, if the motion is near they keypad this can be bothersome. You may simpy stay still until it reverts to ready.

If no motion should be detected, then it may be a bad or missing motion detector.

Okay so I have lived in this house for over two years and just recently we have had multiple break ins VERY close to my home. Tonight I played with the alarm (in which never has been done) and sure enough set it off. I currently have everything (ac and Battery) unplugged. If i hook it all back up, shortly after it starts to go off. You seem to know a good bit about this. I would really appreciate it!! Even if I just get the chime back would be great ;) I have tried the 2580 in which looks like it should have been a reset of any alarms with no such luck and I am not able to reset master code for still in alarm mode. Is there something I can do.
PS this is a 6150 model key pad. Thank you greatly!

If you use the power up followed by * + # described in the installer manual (You _have_ downloaded a copy, right?) and in the sticky titled "Alarm forum FAQ (Please read before posting), when you exit programming with *99 the system should be disarmed, then you can use the installer code to set a new master user code.
