I have paper backed border paper near the ceiling of my bathroom. the paper is in good shape but outdated. i plan on repainting the room and am wondering if I can paint over the border. If so do I need to do any prep work. Thanks.

You could coat the border with a solvent based primer and spackle the edge and seams but it would be better to remove the border. It should remove fairly easy with water and a broad knife. If the face doesn't pull off of the border, score the face so the moisture will penetrate easier to the adhesive. Removal means there will never be any adhesion issues later on.

Thanks I'll give it a try. I removed similar border in another bathroom and it was a disaster. the paper back on the sheetrock came off with the paper. I have problems with my arm and now and have limited use, so the easier the better.
