Hello I am a new member, I am having some trouble with my alarm system. It started with countless false alarms with one of my motion detectors, zone 4 wicth is my living room. I changed the motion detectors, but still had same problem, I was told to put resistors on the com at the motion detector, so I did, plus I ran new wire, but now the zone light is on all the time on 3 and 4 witch are my motion detectors, how do I solve the problem. Thank you for any feed back

The odds are that your system is configured to not need resistors. If the other zones don't have them, then the motions don't need them either.

Frequent motion detector false trips are most often environmental.

Do you have anything in the room that can be moved by heat or ac venting? Has the HVAC been upgraded, or is it running more often? Is there a window in the room that can suddenly get a bright sunlight patch at certain times of day? Have you added any devices in the room that generate heat, or cycle on and off? Has there been a significant change in the furnishings in the room?

I removed the resistors, I dont know what HVAC stands for, I did my pet sensor from a single eye to two. But it seems every year or so I would have trouble with my sensors. This time though it did not work, there is double french doors in that room and a mirror on the other side of the room that could be the problem, but the doors and the mirror have always been there. We do have alot of power outages and maybe some surges, I dont the installers code I`d have to short out the system to reset a new code, not to sure how to do that yet. I just looped it for now so I would not get any more false alarms. Then I thought maybe it could be at the board itself, I was going to change it from zone 4 to zone 5 but was not sure if it would work without the installers code. What do you think

HVAC = Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning

If you don't have the installer code, you can't simply switch the zones around, because you need to be able to change the zone settings to match.

Brownouts/Blackouts and power surges do make a difference.

If the voltage powering the motion flickers, the relay inside changes state, and you get an alarm trip.

This is one of those cases where you almost need to be there to catch it when it happens so that you know the trigger conditions.

What changes with doors and windows is the angle of the sunlight, especially at morning and evening time. A certain window may only get a direct sunlight a few weeks a year at a specific time of day, for example, then the sun processes along the horizon, and the problem goes away for several months.

I am trying to get yhe Installers code from the people who installed it. I almost let them fix it, but I am in a remote area, three hours from town. First they would not give any idea of how much the service call was going to cost except for saying not to much, then I waited a whole day for them and they did not show up. I tried to get somebody else, with not much luck so one firm sold me what I asked for, and I did it myself. I get it sooner or later. Thanks again for your help
