I need helpd desperately  . My first post and I know absolutely nothing about programing alarms. I want to change my 6139 keypad. I'm figuring that the easiest and cheapest thing to do would be to get another on Ebay. If I went this route, can I simply match up the new keypad to the wires that are connected to the old keypad without programing the new keypad? If I have to program the keypad, is it something that should be relatively easy for a novice?
What I'd really like is to have a 6160v and a touchscreen keypad (as in ADT setup). How difficult would it be for me to replace the 6139 with the touchscreen keypad and have the 6160v keypad in another location in my home?
Anyone in the New York area able to phyically help with this if I find that I am not able to do this on my own?
Thank for taking the time to read and respond ;)

What model is the base alarm system? The answer will vary depending on this.

I had it installed by ADT 12 years ago. I don't know what it was called. I had the boxes in my garage up until last june when I had a garage sale. I'm not sure if that's how I knew the model of the keypad or if it's because it looks like the 6139 keypad. Thank you.

Open the door of the box where the battery is. The wiring diagram on the inside of the door should have the correct model. I'm guessing Safewatch 2000 based on the age, but there are a couple of others that would fit that age range.

Being 12 years old I don't think the touch screen keypads will work. They are for P series panels only and at a certain revision number as well. The 6160's will be a no brainer, they will either be addressed as a 31 for both or one will be 16 and the other 17.
